You know the drill

Imagine what it would be like if we had people who read over the day's top story (OK, and all the little stories too) and made sure the words were speled good. We could call them ... "copy editors"!

Who's responsible for the lousy hyphenation there? No need to break "Iowa", and the spacing would have looked better on the previous line anyway. (I'm assuming that Real Newspapers are not typeset in Microsoft Word. I hope that's a legitimate assumption.)

It's a spell-checker world in which "auger" won't show as an error. You are pining for a time when folks who read the day's copy would recognize the difference between a drill bit and a prediction.
