FOY War on Christmas

I think I saw an Xpesmasse tree in full regalia during the game Wednesday night, so it shouldn't be a real surprise that the War on Christmas begins as early as Halloween these days. Take it away, Fair 'n' Balanced Network:

Hallmark, the Kansas City greeting card company, edited the lyrics of "Deck the Halls" on one of its 2013 ornaments to omit the word 'gay' and has received criticism on its Facebook page that puts the company in an unfamiliar position of defending a product.

The original carol verse goes: "Don we now our gay apparel." But Hallmark's version, which appears on a Christmas ornament designed as an ugly Christmas sweater goes: "Don we now our FUN apparel."

And what are the outraged citizens saying?

The company's Facebook page has received posts criticizing the decision to change the lyric. One post read, "Hallmark is insinuating that gay people dress differently than anyone else. If I were gay, I would be more upset with that."

A woman who described herself as a Gold Crown Rewards member, posted that by changing the lyric, the company made an unnecessary political statement.

Seem a little mild? It's a little livelier in the Fox story's comments:

...Now if you really want to be offended about something real, be offended that your rights are being taken away as I am writing this.  This imposter in the White House is trampling all over the United States Constitution and our rights, and is leading us down the road to where we have no rights at all, while all you cry babies are worried about somebody being gay, or too religious, or black, or white, or green, or purple, or not being able to murder babies in the womb, etc., etc., etc.  What about your real freedom?  While you've been whining about things that are stupid, the thief has stolen your freedom to even make a decision on your own, and is letting others come into this country and steal out of your pocketbooks/wallets, all while you sit around whining and crying about insignificant BS.  You better rise up before it is too late to do anything about our situation because whether you are gay, woman, man, white, black, red, yellow, we are all Americans, and our very lives are at stake.  WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Neat the word "White " will have to be removed from White Christmas, so as not to offend. I am sure Irving Berlin meant to offend people when he wrote it. Gay still means happy, even if the "gays" aren't.

... Hallmark has accepted the homosexual usurpation of the word gay.  Gay has meant, means and always will mean happy or light hearted.  It has nothing to do with homosexuality.  Americans can not permit the radical left to control the language they do not even wish to defend.  Liberal becomes a dirty word so they become progressives despite the fact that progress means to move forward while they try to regress to the same old policies that have failed all over Europe for the last 70 years.

Don't bother using the lyric if you are going to change it to be POLITICALLY CORRECT.

BAN we now our Hallmark purchases. I am SOOOO very sick of this PC BS that I could puke. If they were so worried about offending people then they should not have even referred to the song. Basically, they were fearful of offending thin-skinned gays. That's what it's all about. They apparently are not bothered that such behaviour bothers people like me. I shall reflect my displeasure in avoiding purchases of the Hallmark brand and urge others that are tired of the PC culture to do the same.

Let me understand here, we are being asked to remove "Redskins" from a sports team, because it is offensive to one group of people.  But, if we remove "Gay" from a sweater, it is offensive to one group of people.  Who comes up with this stuff?  Can't we all just get along and leave everyone else to their own?

... These good wholesome identifying words use to be holy. Now one is extremely perverse "g a y" and the other one is going through a battle "marriage" to keep its sanctity.

What has happened to our country! We were once a proud country that was not afraid to speak our minds. We so quickly forget our heritage and throw it out the window because of a few people complain.

You can see how the old research agenda is never going to go away.
